MAJOR Local Rain Update

Hello everyone! We are ending the week with a washout. The amount of rain forecast for New Jersey and Long Island, New York, have significantly increased. Here is what you need to know.


  • Showers are occurring for parts of New Jersey and western Long Island.

  • Rain should become more widespread by Friday morning.

  • Areas in northwestern NJ are expected to receive 2-3 inches of rain from Friday morning to Saturday morning.

  • Areas in central and northeastern NJ are expected to receive at least 4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts of >6 inches depending on where the rain bands set up.

  • There is a slight risk for excessive rainfall for the majority of those areas. Some parts of northeastern and central NJ are under a moderate risk of excessive rainfall.

  • Watch out for localized flooding or even extensive street flooding is possible. Streams and rivers may also flood their banks due to heavy rain.
