North Atlantic Hurricane Nigel continues to intensify to a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 100 mph (155 kmh) and should be nearing its peak intensity within the next 12 hours. The storm is still expected to remain as a Category 2 as it stays out to sea. An area of interest in the central Atlantic has a 70% chance to form into a tropical depression within the next 7 days. Note that it's too soon as to where the potential track is for this area of interest. An area interest located off the coast of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and northeastern Florida has a 30% chance to form into a (sub)tropical depression within the next 7 days. Even if it does not develop, heavy rainfall is still expected for the Mid-Atlantic this weekend, including our area. Eastern Pacific Tropical storm Kenneth is named in the Eastern Pacific with sustained winds of 45 mph (75 kmh). Kenneth is forecast to slightly strengthen more before increasing wind shear causes the storm to weaken and is expected stay out to sea. Western Pacific Two new disturbances Invests 98W and 99W, are not expected to form. Invest 96W has a 30% chance to form into a tropical depression within the next 7 days and could become our next storm for the season. North Indian Invest 98A is located overland in the state of Gujarat, India while Invest 97B is located in the Bay of Bengal. Both have very low chances to develop into a tropical depression.
