Tropics Outlook October 10

Hello everyone! This is your tropics outlook on October 10 for the Northern Hemisphere.

North Atlantic

  • Invest 92L has a 80% chance to develop into a tropical depression within the next 2 days and will remain out to sea.

  • Invest 93L initially had a 30% chance to form into a tropical depression in the Bay of Campeche. However, it's down to 10% because it lacks a well-defined center and has disorganized convection.

Eastern Pacific

  • Hurricane Lidia is rapidly intensifying as it heads east-northeast toward west-central Mexico. Lidia is currently a high-end Category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 125 mph (205 km/h) and will make landfall in the western part of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Hurricane and tropical storm warnings remain. Dangerous storm surge and life-threatening hurricane-force winds are expected.

Western Pacific

  • Typhoon Bolaven is moving away from the Mariana Islands and is explosively intensifying. Bolaven is now a Category 4 typhoon with sustained winds of 150 mph (240 km/h). The typhoon will become a Category 5 typhoon tomorrow as it heads northwest and then northeast later this week away from land.
