Tropics Outlook September 28

Hello everyone! Here is a tropics outlook on September 28 for the Northern Hemisphere.

North Atlantic

  • Tropical storm Philippe continues to become further disorganized due to a combination of dry air and wind shear. Despite the challenges in forecasting Philippe's future track, the storm should stay out to sea and not cause impacts for the Leeward Islands.

  • Tropical storm Rina was named earlier today and gradual strengthening is expected early next week when shear decreases. The storm is expected to not impact land.

Eastern Pacific

  • The area of interest in the western part of this basin will not form.

  • A new area of interest has a 20% chance to form into a tropical depression within the next 7 days.

Western Pacific

  • Invest 93W seems to be relocating its center underneath the deep convection as its old center dissipates. The disturbance has a 80% chance to become a tropical depression within the next 2 days and will continue to head west.
